Traveling to Koyao Under the Sandbox 7+7 Extension

Starting from 1 October 2021, the ‘Amazing Khao Lak-Ko Yao Sandbox’ program allows fully vaccinated visitors to stay in Khao Lak and Ko Yao in Phang-Nga province just north of Phuket for 7 nights, after which they will be able to continue their journey to other parts of Thailand. Subsequently from 1 November 2021, visitors will be able to stay in any area in Phang-Nga for 7 days before continuing their journey to other Thai destinations.

You are required to travel from countries or territories approved by Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), and you must have been in the said countries for no less than 21 days before your travel date. Additionally, you need to apply for a Certificate of Entry (COE), using the following documents:

1 - Copy of a valid passport.

2 - Copy of the payment confirmation

A copy of the payment confirmation for no less than 14 nights stay at SHA Plus-certified hotel/s and for RT-PCR tests via www.thailandpsas.com.

3 - A certificate of vaccination against COVID-19

A certificate of vaccination against COVID-19 with a vaccine approved by Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health or the World Health Organisation (WHO) no less than 14 days before your travel date. If you have recovered from COVID-19 you will also need to be fully vaccinated at least 14 days before travel.

4 - A confirmed return flight ticket. A confirmed return flight ticket.

5 - Payment confirmation for no less than seven nights stay at SHA Plus-certified hotel/s.

6 - Payment confirmation for RT-PCR COVID-19 tests that cover the whole duration of stay in Thailand via www.thailandpsas.com.

5 - An insurance policy in English

A copy of an insurance policy in English covering healthcare and treatment expenses for COVID-19 per applicant for the whole duration in Thailand with coverage clearly identified as no less than US$100,000.

If you travel directly to Phuket International Airport, then you will be subject to health screening, including a COVID-19 nasal swab RT-PCR testing and Immigration procedures at the point of entry. Children under 6 years of age will receive a COVID-19 saliva RT-PCR testing.

You will be required to download and install an alert application, as well as set the application on at all times for the whole duration of your stay in Thailand.

After testing negative for COVID-19, you can go anywhere in Phuket. However, you will not be allowed to stay overnight in any other place than the reserved hotel. In addition, you are required to report to the hotel’s SHA Plus Manager on a daily basis, or upon return to the hotel from their outing and excursion.

If you travel from or come on transit/transfer flights from Bangkok then you will be subject to health and Immigration procedures at the first point of entry into Thailand, and undergo steps as required at Phuket International Airport.

You can only travel to Koyao from a specified marina/pier in a SHA Plus-certified transportation establishment in Phuket. These are Ao Po Pier, Rassada Pier, Visit Panwa Pier, Cholong Bay Pier, Ao Po Grand Marina, Phuket Boat Lagoon Marina, Phuket Yacht Haven Marina, and the Royal Phuket Marina.

If you tested negative for COVID-19, then you can go travel around the Blue Zone area in Ko Yao.

If you tested positive for COVID-19, then you will be referred to a healthcare facility for medical treatment, for which the expenses must be covered by the required insurance.

If you intended to stay more than 7 nights you are allowed to travel anywhere within the ‘Blue Zone Free Travel’ areas in Ko Yao which gives you the freedom to travel around unrestricted.

However, you must undergo the second COVID-19 RT-PCR test on Day 6 or 7 of your stay. After receiving a negative test result on Day 7, you can obtain a ‘Release Form’, which means that from  Day 8 onwards you can continue your journey to other destinations in Thailand, but you can also choose to stay longer with us.

For the second RT-PCR test, you will be required to present your prepaid voucher to us ahead of time and make a reservation to do the test at a local hospital of your choice. The assigned hospitals available for taking the test are the Andaman Hub Medical, Takuapa Hospital, Takuathung Hospital, Thaimuang Hospital, Koh Yao Hospital, or Phu-Nui Hospital Health Centre.
